This Refund and Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations and refunds work when you book a trip through fishwego.com (the "Service"). It is part of Fishwego's Terms of Service.
1. Who Sets the Cancellation Terms
Each fishing camp that lists on Fishwego ("Camp") sets its own cancellation and refund policy. The Camp's specific policy is displayed on its profile page and is shown again before you confirm any booking.
Fishwego enforces the Camp's policy as published at the time you booked. A Camp may change its policy for future bookings, but the policy in effect when you booked is the policy that governs your booking.
If you have any uncertainty about a Camp's policy before booking, contact us at support@fishwego.com and we will help you understand it.
2. Deposits
Most Camps require a deposit to confirm a booking. The deposit is typically twenty-five percent (25%) of the trip total, although individual Camps may set a different amount.
Default deposit policy: Unless the Camp explicitly states otherwise, deposits are fully refundable if you cancel before the balance-due date (typically thirty (30) days before check-in).
Camp override: A Camp may mark its deposit as non-refundable or only partially refundable. Where a Camp has done so, that policy is clearly displayed before you submit the deposit.
You will not be charged a deposit that has terms you have not seen and acknowledged.
3. Balance Payments
The remaining balance of your trip is typically due thirty (30) days before check-in (the "balance-due date"). Camps may set a different timeline, which is disclosed before booking.
If you have opted into auto-charge or an installment plan, your saved payment method is charged according to that plan during a Final Payment Collection Window leading up to the balance-due date.
Refundability of balance payments after the balance-due date is governed by the Camp's specific policy.
4. How to Cancel
To cancel a booking, sign in to your account, open the trip, and select "Cancel Trip." You may also email support@fishwego.com from the address on the booking. Cancellations are effective when Fishwego confirms them, normally within one (1) business day.
Cancellations are timestamped at the moment Fishwego receives them, not when the Camp acknowledges them. Disputes about timing are resolved with reference to our system records.
5. Refund Processing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through Stripe. Typical timing:
- Credit and debit cards: 5–10 business days after Fishwego issues the refund, depending on your bank.
- Bank transfers (ACH): 5–7 business days.
Fishwego does not control the speed at which your bank or card issuer posts the refund.
6. All-In Pricing and Refunds
Fishwego uses all-in pricing: the amount you saw and paid at booking is the total price for your trip, with no separately-itemized fees, taxes, or surcharges added at checkout.
When a refund is due under the Camp's cancellation policy or under Sections 7 or 8 of this Policy, the refund amount is calculated from the all-in price you paid. Depending on the timing of your cancellation, you may be refunded the full amount, a portion of it, or none of it, in accordance with the Camp's stated policy. There are no separate fees withheld from your refund beyond what the Camp's cancellation policy explicitly retains.
7. Camp Cancellation or Failure to Deliver
If a Camp cancels your confirmed booking, or fails to make your reserved inventory available on your check-in date, you are entitled to a full refund of all amounts paid, regardless of the Camp's normal cancellation policy.
If a Camp materially fails to deliver the services described in its listing (e.g., promised cabin is unavailable, boats are not seaworthy, meal plan is materially different from what was advertised), contact us at support@fishwego.com within seventy-two (72) hours of becoming aware and we will help facilitate an appropriate remedy with the Camp, which may include a partial or full refund.
8. Force Majeure and Extraordinary Circumstances
If your trip cannot proceed because of circumstances beyond reasonable control — including natural disaster, severe weather forcing camp closure, wildfire, pandemic, government travel restriction, or similar event — Fishwego works with the Camp to:
- reschedule your trip to a later date at the same Camp at no additional charge where possible, or
- credit your account toward a future booking, or
- issue a full refund if neither rescheduling nor crediting is acceptable to you.
Force-majeure remedies override the Camp's normal cancellation policy.
9. Group Bookings and Split Payments
If your trip was paid by multiple people on a split-pay arrangement, refunds are returned to each payor in proportion to what they paid. The trip organizer cannot direct a refund to a payor different from the original payor.
If a single person in a group cancels their portion of a trip while the rest of the group proceeds, the cancelling person's share is refunded according to the Camp's policy. The remaining trip continues unaffected unless that cancellation triggers a Camp minimum-size requirement, in which case the Camp's policy on group-size changes applies.
10. No-Shows
If you do not check in on the scheduled date and do not cancel in advance, the booking is treated as a no-show. No-show bookings are non-refundable unless the Camp's published policy explicitly provides otherwise.
If circumstances beyond your control (medical emergency, family death, severe weather affecting travel) prevent you from arriving as scheduled, contact us as soon as practical and we will work with the Camp to find a fair remedy. Fishwego cannot guarantee a refund in these cases — the Camp's policy controls — but we will advocate on your behalf.
11. Chargebacks
If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact us first at support@fishwego.com. We will work with you to resolve the issue.
Initiating a chargeback through your bank before contacting us delays resolution and creates additional cost. We reserve the right to terminate the account of any user who initiates chargebacks for amounts to which they are not entitled, and to recover from such users any fees Stripe charges Fishwego in connection with the dispute.
12. Disputes
If you disagree with our application of this Policy to your booking, you may pursue dispute resolution under the procedures set out in our Terms of Service.
